It’s Anzac Day–always a challenging day in Australia. Here is a piece I wrote for our family, about Dad/Poppy, and Mum/Nanny–something of a record for younger generations and a little bit of speaking truth to power, perhaps.

Powerful. My Dad was just as tight lipped till he retired. One day, out of the blue, we received a videotape of a PBS special where WWII pilots were recounting their experiences. There was a note with it saying “This is what I experienced also.” He still never spoke about it, but it was pretty horrific.
Thank you Sam–that is certainly familiar to us.
